Hi, after some time I go back to Audacity, I reopen an old project of mine, but it tells me first “reference to invalid character number at line 6” and then “impossible to find the project” how should I do? this project is very important, please help me
Please post your “.aup” file (see: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1)
I expect the problem is that the .aup file is irreparably damaged, so you will need to resort to your most recent backup, but there’s a slim chance that it could be repairable. It will probably be obvious which outcome when we see the file.
I can’t open my audacity file because of the error: “reference to invalid character number at line 6”. I absolutely need to open it. Thank you for your help.
I assume that you are using an old version of Audacity.

Ok I put you below my file. Thank you
Etoile.aup (63.1 KB)
The problem is caused by invalid tags that have been added by the “beatstars - Acheter Drumkit”. It includes license information:
A license must be purchased for every use
If you have purchased a license, I would suggest that you ask them to fix the problem.
Let us know what they say.
So I am assuming you have already purchased your license. In that case, you might try editing this .aup file with notepad and deleting the mult-line line starting with "<tag name=“synopsis” value="Purchase | Instant Delivery : ". so that it appears:
<tag name="ARTIST" value="TMG"/>
<tag name="TITLE" value="Road Trip"/>
