Hello Audacity

First I admire what you do. Very impressive program. And support.


Trying to capture streaming audio from Safari
Mac Mini (Model identifier Macmini7,1
OSX 10.13.6

start Safari, go to page
start Audacity
start playing audio track

Audacity
Click RED dot record
Error Opening recording device
Error Code: 0 Success

The manual says
“this means there is a problem with your Audacity, operating system or sound device recording settings, where xxxx is replaced by a numeric code” Look up code, dead end.

Suggestions?

No microphone option.

I’m starting to wonder if this just won’t work BECAUSE it is a “Mac Mini”?

macOS does not directly support recording streaming audio. You need additional software (or a "loopbac cable) to give the Mac that ability.

it worked!

Inelegant but it works. (having to switch preferences back and forth)
Doesn’t matter. open source and it works.
Nice.

Also EXCELLENT documentation!

Several solutions were offered.
I used the “SoundFlower” option.
