“Error -9997: Invalid Sample Rate”.

I am receving “Error -9997: Invalid Sample Rate”. My “Host” is ‘Windows WASAPI’ recording device is ‘Microphone Array (AMD) Audio Device’ and my ‘Project Sample Rate’/Default Sample Rate’ is 41000Hz. I tried 48000Hz also. I’m running Windows 11 (25H2 Build - 26200.7462).

It’s probably not really an “invalid sample rate”…

  • Try a different host.

  • Make sure Windows and Audacity are both set to mono or both set to stereo.

  • Check your privacy settings to make sure Audacity is allowed to use the microphone.
