equalizer vs filter curve

Hey everybody, I have Audacity 2.3.2 and have been using the equalizer for my audiobooks as part of the mastering process with low rolloff for speech and 4000 hz filter duration as seen on screenshot “equalizer”. Don’t remember if it was there or if I downloaded it as a plugin. But I just installed Audacity 2.3.3 on a second PC and all I find is an effect called filter curve which includes the lowrolloff for speech factory preset option, but other features of my original equalizer are missing, please compare screenshots. It is in Greek but you can see that equalizer has more options. Where do I find the equalizer from version 2.3.2? Or can I use the factory preset of the filter curve from version 2.3.3 and I am all good for ACX mastering? Thanks!

Both curves work OK.

Note the old curve has a blue line and a green line. The blue line is the one you wanted and the green line is the one you actually got. The Green line doesn’t work as well as the drawn one. You could fix that with the “length” slider, but that might damage the sound.

The new Filter Curve (I think that name will change a little in the new release), has no adjustment. It always gives the best sound, and note the blue and green lines are a lot closer together.

One of this tool’s jobs is to get rid of US and North America power line interference at 60Hz. The new curve is a lot better at that than the older one was.

One more. You have to search for the factory presets.

Filter Curve > Manage > Factory Presets

You can use the low rolloff for speech in the Filter Curve effect.

Thank you guys, that explained everything.
