Emphasise speech in a mono recording that has background music

I did an interview in a record store with the owner, and it turns out the music he was playing in store has come through a little louder than I was hoping for in the recording (Not lots louder, but a little)

Is there any way for me try and emphasise the speech a little more (or de-emphaise the music!). The recording would be OK for me to to put on YouTube as I’m intending, it just might be a little difficult to make out the speech for anyone with hearing issues so I’m hoping to help them be able to hear it a bit more clearly.

I’ve tried using Noise Reduction by taking a sample of the background music but it’s removing far too many of the frequencies and leaving poor quality tinny audio.

Thanks!

There’s not much you can do. Since it’s a video, you can add subtitles.

What kind of music is it? Copyrighted? Yours?
If you put a video on Youtube with copyrighted music, you will most likely get a copyright strike and/or your video pulled off.

Thanks, I’d provisionally done that in case I don’t resolve this :slightly_smiling_face:

I think I’ll have to stick with that plan.

Thanks, I already did a test upload a few days ago and.let YouTube run it’s copyright checks and it was happy,.no issues.
