Ekstreme slow startup of audicity 2.04

It takes me a minute or so to start up audicity 2.04. After start it gives a note that it want to change something. I say ok. Then it takes app. a minute before the window show up.
The log says:

the system is win 7 service pack 1
8Gb ram and a performance index of 4,8 (3,3 Ghz cpu)

there is > 300 Gb free disk space.

After start the window interface is very slow too on many functions eg. start and stop recording the response time is 10 secs???

I have tryed to disable system output and input devices unused, and tried xp compatibility but nothing changed.
My kaspersky antivirus says it trusts audicity.

So something are wrong - but what???

If you saw the “Install VST Effects” dialogue and you chose to install many effects then this may take a while. Is that what you saw? Please see Audacity Manual .

Or was it a dialogue asking about Modules? Did you load those modules?

If you require the optional FFmpeg library please click here: Audacity Manual .

Have you already got many tracks or very long tracks on the screen (over an hour long)?

Turn on Windows Task Manager. Is there much available memory remaining or excessive CPU use?

Thanks for the instant reply

If you saw the “Install VST Effects”

I did not see it.

Or was it a dialogue asking about Modules?

no It was the standard window dialouge: Saying something like:
A program want to change something in your machine, will you accept that.
(My idea is that this dialouge, just means that the program will change entries in the registry, therefore I accepted)

If you require the optional FFmpeg library please click here:

I do not need it I think, just need standard functions,‘out of the box’.

Have you already got many tracks or very long tracks on the screen (over an hour long)?

No - in fact only thunderbird was running, no other audicity incarnations, and I just wanted to record some sound.

Turn on Windows Task Manager. Is there much available memory remaining or excessive CPU use?

Yes I did: Physical memory free was app 3 Gb
The cpu load was 5 % !

BUT know come the most starange information !!!

I did this yesterday evening, (local time)
But this morning, after reading your response I started audicity again.
AND IT just behaved normal ( As I remember it from the former system where I used it)

So the only change is the powerdown of the PC and startup of windows.
( It remind mee of the good old window days - where the standing advice to problems were: Just restart the computer and your problems goes away
( I recall that windows did not close down in a minute or so, with no messages of installing Windows updates, so at last I just took the power at the wall)

All in all - I have disturbed you with a Windows problem not a audicity problem - sorry.

And again thanks for your prompt response

Make sure it continues to work OK before you relax.

If it does continue to work, this counts as a success in our ledger, so everybody comes out a winner.
