Easy way to add silence??

I’m sure this question has been asked before.

I’m looking for an easy way to add time to the “pauses” in recorded speech.
Really what I need is the opposite of the Truncate Silence effect.
I would like to add 5-8 seconds of “dead air” in these periods of silence instead of truncate everything down to 1 second (how I usually use this effect)

I’m working with a program that is 8 minutes too short for the time slot. I have dropped the tempo of the speech 10% already. Any more and it makes the speaker sound like he needs bed rest. I’m running out of idea of how to fill the gaps.

There is a search box top right if you think the question has been asked before.

There is an experimental Extend Silences plug-in you can try.

As the “cost” of using it, please give Steve some feedback on the plug-in in that topic.

Thanks for the feedback about Extend Silences. I moved your feedback to the topic: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/extend-silences/34612/6 .
