Easy loopback on linux - as a plugin maybe?

Hello people of audacity,

A great solution in audacity was an easy loopback option in windows (with WASAPI option directly on menus), but linux has no solution. Not a good one, for normal users that will use loopback one day and then again just months later… every time I need it I have to look for tutorials of how to bypass a sound system… Normal people uses linux for personal computing, please dont say “linux users blablabla…” If Audacity wants to be better it needs to provide simple solutions for daily use applications as loopback.

Yes it does. On Linux it’s usually called “Monitor”, but it is not implemented in Audacity, it’s implemented in the Linux sound system. It can be accessed through “Pulse Audio Volume Control”, or (usually) through the system “Sound Preferences”.

The set-up method is described here: Recording desktop audio | Audacity Support

(Even though most Linux Desktops now use PipeWire, this method should still work)
