I din’t know exactly where to ask this, so I apologise beforehand if this is the wrong place.
I’ve been using Audacity for Windows since 2007, so that’s quite a long time. I’ve always taken from the software, but never given anything back. Now I feel it’s the time to give, even if it’s in the form of a donation. I know there are other ways to contribute to the project, but the only one I’m currently capable of doing is the donation.
However, I haven’t found a “donate” option anywhere. Since Audacity is free and mostly maintained by the contributions of its users, it’s surprising that this option is not available (or easily found, at least).
Audacity was acquired by Musegroup early last year (2021). Prior to that, Audacity was developed and supported by volunteer enthusiasts. As Musegroup is a commercial business, we thought it would be inappropriate to continue donations, so donations were closed.
No problem. Audacity is free and there is no obligation to donate in any way. If your circumstances change and you find that you become able to contribute in some other way in the future, that would be great
