I’ve been using Audacity for voiceover work for a couple of years (although I’m not an audio engineer and know only the bare minimum. Lately, on the same computer (with both Audacity 1.3 and now with 2.0) when I add a second track (made an error, stopped recording, deleted last few words, started a new track to continue), there is distortion in the second track. I can’t find anything on this forum about this and can’t determine what could have changed. Any ideas?

The usual reason for this problem is mismatched sample rates. Please read this FAQ:

If you still have the issue after following that FAQ, please tell us exactly what version of Windows, exactly what sound device you are recording with and exactly what mic (make and model number).
