I’m trying to copy cassette tapes to my MacBook Pro via the DigitNow USB Audio Capture gadget, but it’s not working.
I’ve read and (believe I’ve) followed the instructions, to no avail:
- DigitNow User Manual: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15Yk9U6O2jnlGMoYI-_wsYqbTvXGToIh6/view
- Audacity "How to connect your equipment: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/how_to_connect_your_equipment.html
I’ve connected the RCA line-outs on my tape deck to the audio-in RCA ports on the DigitNow. When I click “Record” on Audacity (with a tape playing and the deck’s meters showing a signal), the little blue light on the DigitNow goes from solid to blinking, so it seems like the connection from the DigitNow to my Mac’s USB port to the Audacity s/w is working.
But, Audacity registers no input signal at all. I’ve clicked the Record button, as well as selecting “Start monitoring.” Nothing…
As a test, I connected the 3.5mm input jack on the DigitNow to my phone, and played some music. But, as with the tape deck, no signal gets through to Audacity.
Just to confirm my settings: on Audacity > Preferences > Recording, I’ve checked “Play other tracks…,” “Software playthrough…,” and “Record on a new track.” And on Audacity > Preferences > Devices I’ve set the Recording Device to “USB Microphone.”
MacOS: Monterey 12.65
Audacity 3.2.1
USB version (on my Mac): 3.0
Any ideas or suggestions?
