Difference between open versus import of mp3

Audacity v3.5.1 Windows 10, 64 bit

When I want to open mp3 file, what is the difference between File|Open versus File|Import|Audio?

As far as I know… The only difference is if you open a 2nd track it opens in a new Audacity window/project whereas when you import a 2nd track it opens in the same project.
