Deleting a section

I’m new to Audacity andI’m running Windows 10 and Audacity 3.0 I have an MP3 audio file that is @ 2:08 and I would like to delete (strip) everything past 1:52. I get the selections set in the selection windows at the bottom of the screen but then how do I delete the desired section. I’ve tried Ctrl-X and Ctrl-K but no dice. What am I doing wrong?

After highlighting/selecting the part you want to delete, you hit the ‘Del’ key on your keyboard or Edit → Delete from the Audacity menu.
