DE-ESSER FOR MAC BIG SUR, PLEASE HELP!

Hey all!

I’m relatively well versed in Audacity, however since purchasing my new mac M1 absolutely no de-esser I’ve found so far will open in Audacity. I either get an error message saying the file cannot be found in my downloads (I’m assuming because it’s old and has been deleted,) or an error message telling me audacity doesn’t recognize the file (because it’s always for windows  ) I am so frustrated and would appreciate any suggestions. Obviously, I’d love a free download but I’m not opposed to anything $50 or under. For how much time this has already eaten up, I will take what I can get.

Thanks,

Em

Hiya,

You may well have explored these long ago, but I’ve had success with this nyquist plug-in (and its sister tool, the declicker, which I find insanely useful). Links to the most recent versions at the bottom of the first post. Might do for a while until you find something fancier? There’s lots of advice in this thread as to which settings to alter.

(Forgot to say: def works on M1)

Hey!

Thanks for the response! See, I thought this one would work too, based on what I read but I am still getting an error message when I try to open it in audacity. I’ve attached the message below so you can see what I mean. Maybe it’s something I’m not doing right?

A file ending in “.ny” is a “Nyquist plug-in”. They need to be installed, and then enabled in Audacity.
See here for instruction how to do that: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_generator_and_analyzer_plug_ins_on_mac_os_x.html#nyquist_install
