DDJ-FLX4/Rekordbox/RCA to headphone Jack (or alternative)

I cannot get audacity to internally hear and record my music playing via my DDJ-FLX4. It will only record sound via the mac microphone which obviously leaves background noise. Between the mac settings, the rekordbox settings, and the audacity settings, I’m totally overwhelmed. I tried a virtual cable and couldn’t figure it out that way. I’ve tried changing settings but didn’t manage to figure it out that way either and temporarily messed up my normal sound settings in the process. Someone on reddit told me to get an RCA cable, so I bought an RCA cable which is currently plugged into the ‘master’ on the back of the DDJ-FLX4 and the headphone jack on the macbook. Still not working.

I’ve trieed to include pictures of all my settings but the forum will only let me choose one, so I included the mac sound output settings. Please keep in mind, I don’t speak tech and so I need the solution explained like you would to a baby. Like step by step- buy this- change this setting to this.

I’m genuinely losing my mind. i’ve spent months trying to figure this out, reading forums and watching tutorials, I even paid for a consultation with geek squad at best buy and I still have gotten nowhere, despite seeing this issue all over the internet. Please please please help!

Oh I can upload more pictures this way.

I’m a Widows guy, but…

That won’t work because sound comes OUT of the headphone jack. You need a line input, which most laptops don’t have.

If you have a combo microphone/headphone jack, the mic input can “work” with the right special connector with the extra mic contact, but it’s “wrong” and mono and you’ll get poor quality.

Check the user manual for the DDJ-FLX4 to see if you can use the USB port to record. Or maybe via Bluetooth.

If not, you’ll need a USB interface with line-in. The Behringer UCA202 (or UCA222) is popular and inexpensive. Or there are lots of higher-end USB audio interfaces with switchable mic/line inputs.

someone just gave me the link to Loopback and it immediately fixed all problems easily no knowledge required. I’ll leave this up for other hopeless people!
