Creating a "Choir" from single vocals

Can anyone give me some tips on how I might fake a choir using a few voices.
The requirement is just for voices singing a note that comes to a Busby Berkeley style crescendo
Clearly I can make lots of takes and mix them, but I am short of time and people.

Any tricks to speed things up would be appreciated.

TIA

John

For a full choir, start with a range of voices - at least one voice for each part (soprano, tenor, bass, whatever…) preferably more.
Record each voice on a separate track if possible (likely to need a click track to keep everyone in time) - if this is not possible, just record as a single stereo recording with some people close to one microphone and some close to the other.
Then split your stereo track and set each to mono.

Now you have your source material, make several duplicates of each track - enough for each voice in your final choir.

For each copy (not the original), make small changes to the pitch and/or position on the time line.

Adjust the volume and pan position for each track to spread your choir out a bit.

Mix it down and add some reverb to suit the kind of space that the choir is supposedly located.

There are other techniques that can be used, but that’s the basics of it.

In other words, it would be faster to get 35 people together in front of a microphone.

I know you were looking for a “Make Chorus” filter.

Maybe in version 1.4.
