Crashes Constantly (on Catalina)

I’m operating on MacOS Catalina, and I’ve been using Audacity 2.3.3 for several months without issue. Then, just yesterday, it starts crashing after every few minutes of use. I looked and saw that there was a new version available, so I updated to 2.4.2. I’m still having the same issue. Nothing has changed about the audio input or editing in my process.

Well, something has changed.

Try resetting Audacity’s preferences by doing Tools > Reset Configuration.

Alrighty. I tried that and it’s still crashing. I will say that there I realized there is one difference. I’m now editing 4 tracks of audio instead of 3. That doesn’t seem like it should be a big deal though.

Export each track as an AIF. To do that, select each track then do File > Export > Export Selected Audio.

Close the project and create a new project. Import the four AIF files - they should import into separate tracks. Save the new project using a different name. Try editing that project.
