Thanks for the report.
Have you tried saving the recovered project to a new name, then File > Close before opening more AUP files or saving/exporting? Or does Audacity crash when you try to save the recovered project?
Where are you saving or exporting to? Try saving to your Desktop. If you are using the DMG of Audacity, make sure you have installed Audacity properly and are not running Audacity from the DMG. See: Installation: Do NOT run Audacity from the DMG!!!! .
Have you got the “About Audacity” dialogue open and cannot close it?
If you’ve used Audacity before, audacity.cfg should exist. Resetting audacity.cfg might solve the problem. Make sure Audacity isn’t running, open Finder, Go > Go to Folder and type:
~/Library/Application Support/audacity/
Open audacity.cfg in TextEdit.
Select all the text and delete it.
Then type the following at the top of the file:
NewPrefsInitialized=1
Save audacity.cfg and restart Audacity.
