um I’m not sure how to find the model ect but this is what its called on Amazon: Tonor USB Professional Condenser Sound Podcast Studio Microphone For PC Laptop Computer Upgraded Version - Plug and play, Black
Link to Amazon Page: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01142EPO4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I’m using Windows 10

I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying here. Could you elaborate, please?

This error is a known problem with Audacity on Windows 10 if any of the audio devices you are trying to use don’t have Windows 10 drivers that are fully compatible with the device. Have you read Missing features - Audacity Support?

According to Amazon.co.uk that mic works with Cortana. If so, we can assume it is compatible with Windows 10.

That being the case, it must be your built-in audio device (or one of its sub-devices) that is creating the error.

That only gives you the drivers that Windows can find. Assuming you have a branded computer like Dell or Lenovo, have you been to their site to see if there are Windows 10 audio drivers for your computer model? If not, try that.

If that does not work, try the other solutions mentioned on that Wiki page: Missing features - Audacity Support.

Basicly when I was looking through the forums for this answer there was a site starting with a B that cause problems of you got files from it I can’t remember what said site was though

I hot my Pc from computer specialist which is a site where u decide what things you want for your PC so there won’t be a model number because it’s unique

The advice on Missing features - Audacity Support still applies. In your case go to the web site of the motherboard maker to see if they have Windows 10 drivers for your motherboard model number.

You can find basic information about the motherboard by installing CPU-Z.

Or type

dxdiag

in the Windows search box and press ENTER on your keyboard. DxDiag should show in the search results, so click on it.

Save the DxDiag report so you can refer to it. In the report, under “Sound Devices”, you should see a “Hardware ID” string for the built-in sound device. Mine is:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&SUBSYS_103C166F&REV_1001

Make a note of the four characters following “VEN_” (Vendor) and the four following “DEV_” (Device). You should then be able to find out the manufacturer of the audio chip on the motherboard by entering those characters on http://www.pcidatabase.com/index.php.

If in the end you can’t find Windows 10 drivers for the motherboard audio, there are other solutions you can try on Missing features - Audacity Support.

If you were looking for drivers, I strongly recommend downloading drivers only from manufacturers’ sites. The majority of third-party sites offering drivers are scam sites that want to harm your computer.
