Corrupt Mac .AUP3 file

Hello!

I have a corrupt “Audacity failed to read from a file…” .aup3 file. I’ve read other posts that have had some success and am hopeful that someone (jademan?) here can take a look at it and help me out.

Here’s the file:

Thanks in advance!

Steve

I can’t read it either.

Give us a push. How long is the file or show? Stereo or mono? What were you doing to it? Is this a new production experience for you? Have you done similar jobs a million times before?

Did you do a Mac update between the start of production and now? Has all this work been on one Audacity version? Which one?

2.4.2 and 3.4.2 are the current stable champs. Were you on one of those?

  1. show length was approx. 30 minutes.
  2. stereo
  3. I recorded an interview, saved the file and tried to re-open it three days later
  4. new experience
  5. I edit podcasts for a living; yes, done this millions of times
  6. no recent Mac updates
  7. One Audacity version - not sure which version it is (it’s not the latest but the one before that, and I’m not sitting at my studio computer)

OK, so the trick here is to find a buddy with a Windows computer and ask him/her to help.

That can be a problem because the latest one is 3.4.2. The last reasonably stable version was 3.3.3. The two in the middle were not paragons of virtue.

When I was in active production, I accidentally avoided all the Project kerfuffles by not understanding or trusting Projects. I exported all my live performances as WAV on the spot.

There is a Recovery Utility, but it doesn’t do anything for Mac users.
