Converting Text to Morse Audio for Use in Audacity

Hi everyone,

I’m experimenting with Morse code audio in Audacity and was wondering what workflow others use when they need to convert ordinary text into Morse and then work with the resulting audio. For example, if I have a short sentence, I’d like to:

  1. Convert the text into standard Morse code.
  2. Generate an audio version with clear dots and dashes.
  3. Import the audio into Audacity.
  4. Adjust the tone, timing, volume, or spacing afterward.

I’ve seen that Audacity has been used for Morse-code generation before, but I’m curious what approach people currently find easiest. Is it better to generate the Morse audio externally and then edit it in Audacity, or is there a good way to handle the whole process inside Audacity?

I’m particularly interested in getting consistent timing between dots, dashes, characters, and words so that the resulting audio is easy to decode.
