Converting cassette tapes to .mp3 via Audacity

I’m trying to convert my cassette tapes to audio files through USB Audio Capture played through Audacity. However, no matter which steps I correctly follow, the audio from the cassette (which is playing while Audacity is supposedly recording) is not appearing on the Audacity interface and is not being recorded.

I have made sure the driver for the audio capture is installed, I have made sure that the recording device to be set to the recorder, and have selected the “hear other tracks during recording” option through the transport tab via transport options.

If anyone can help solve this problem, I will be very grateful!

I’m using USB Audio Capture K005
I’m using Audacity 3.7.5 on Windows.

First step is to confirm that your audio capture device is working using the windows control panel. Choose the run option using right click menu from the start button. Type in mmsys.cpl and choose the recording devices tab. If the capture device is working and your cassette player is running you should see it here and showing some input activity.

If that is all Ok you should set a sample rate for audacity of 96KHz which is the best that the device offers. You should not select “hear other tracks during recording” unless you are mixing the tape output with other existing tracks.
