Converting audio in a video file

Hello, I was wondering if Audacity can convert audio in a video file? If the answer is yes, could you please offer some instructions, or where I can find this information. Thank you for your help.

Audacity can open the audio from an audio/video file and export it as audio-only (in a different format if you wish).

In most cases, in order to open the formats used in A/V files you’ll need to install FFmpeg. And you’llneed FFmpeg if you want to export as certain formats .

If you are on Windows, simply download & RUN FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_Windows_x86_64.exe to install it and you should be ready-to-go.

Thank you. Can I convert the audio format within the video file so that I can watch the video and hear the converted audio portion of the video?

You’ll need an audio editor application to re-combine the audio & video.

Thank you. This process sounds like it might be more trouble than it’s worth, but I really do appreciate your help. Guess I will look into other options.
