Continually receiving Internal Port Audio Error

After working successfully for several years through various operating systems and upgrades. a month or so ago Audacity got buggy. I started to get the Internal Port error. Usually, if I shut down Audacity and rebooted it would be fine.
Now it will simply not record music. I continually get Internal Port Error. I have rebooted, reinstalled, walked away and shut down the computer for several hours. Nothing works.
I looked at the compliant from. 10/23 which got no repsonse from anybody. Hopefully I will have better luck. Thank you

Which version of Audacity?
What version of macOS?
What Mac?
What is the error number?
What is your recording source?
How is it connected to the Mac?
I am not aware of any “complaint form”.

It worked fine yesterday

13.6.1

13.6.7

Macbook Pro 16" 2019

Ripped CDs

Internal

I have no idea what a compliant form is.

I certainly saw nothing resembling one.

Does this mean you are using Audacity to record CDs from the Macbook’s internal drive? As far as I can tell that model does not have an internal drive.

You mentioned it in your original post.

That usually means that Audacity has lost connection to the recording device.

Ripped Cds from a hard drive USB C input
No I mentioned seeing a closed conversation/complaint
I just tried with my out board mic and it has lost that too.

I also tried Spotifu and Apple Music. Same error message ands they are on the computer

I still do not understand what exactly you are doing.

What is used for what and how is it connected to your Mac?
Are you trying to get sound from a CD (probably external CD/DVD drive)?
Or do you have a sound file on your (external) hard drive?
Describe your setup and how you wanted to do what - where does the sound (or sound file) come from, etc.

BTW without additional software you cannot record sound coming from your internet browser or whatever. Have a look at “BlackHole”.

Sorry, I misread “from” as “form”.

Does Audacity have permission to use the “microphone”? Control access to the microphone on Mac - Apple Support (CA)

I am making playlist for a family party. I am sourcing the music ofc of my main music hardrive through an USB C connection. I am also sourcing it off of music I have saved on my computer. Everyone in a whole I talk to let people know their fav song is coming up or whatever.
I made a five hour tape last night. Saved it as a wav and all is good
I woke up this AM to do another 5 hours and started getting g the error message. I rebooted. I closed Audacity and rebooted. I de installed and reinstalled audacity still error. I even tried to see if Spotify or Apple Music would work. NADA just the same old error message

So this has nothing to do with recording. You are importing music files into Audacity and making a mix tape. You are not recording anything from a microphone, turntable or cassette deck.
So the PortAudio error must have to do with playback. What device are you using to listen to your project? Note that Audacity does not play well with bluetooth headphones.

Re-installing Audacity won’t help.

Try Transport (menu) > Rescan Audio Devices to see if that helps.

You could try a complete reset of the configuration file:

Well yes I am recording via an ATT 2020USB+. I have rescanned a number of times. I will try your other zsuggestions

Well I did all that and know it won’t play any of my old aup files either

How much free space do you have on your internal hard drive?

I am out of ideas. I hope someone else will chime in.
