Everything I"ve seen about compression ratio recommends about a 3:1 but in AUdacity I get 3 numbers in the ratio so it looks like 3:1:4… or something like that. What are the three numbers??
Which audacity version are you using and are you using the built-in compressor?

In the Audacity compressor effect, there’s two numbers, separated by a colon (“:”)
The first number may be a decimal (for example “3.5”)
The second number is always a “1”
The two numbers together is the compression ratio (for example “3.5:1”)
