When I click to install 3.4.2 to my mac 10.15 on the official Fosshub downloads website, it switches to "Download 3.7.8 " as the only option. So, how do I download 3.42. to my mac 10.15 ? Thanks
Is there a special reason why you explicitely want to install 3.4.2?
There is a link on Audacity’s website for downloading older versions, but that page is not working at the moment. I have read on this forum that there is a different site available - but I did not find that link just now. Browse through this forum - it may be 2 weeks ago or so…
Edit: I found the discussion here.
Unfortunately FossHub is not currently hosting any downloads. All download links on FossHub now redirect to the relevant project’s websites. I’ve not seen any announcements regarding this, but it looks like the days of FossHub downloads are over.
@romontschun Thank you for the mention!
@steve Hello Steve! I don’t know if you remember me and if you are the same person. I am Sam, the ex-FossHub founder. As I posted in the previous thread - I left FossHub back in 2022, so I cannot speak on behalf of the new FossHub team.
However, we set up a page for people looking for the older Audacity versions here: https://dappcdn.com/download/audio-editors/audacity
These are the exact, original Audacity files released by the former Audacity Team. I stopped there because I do not want to take over MuseGroup ownership. I invited **@**kryksyh if he wants access to the Audacity project page on dAppCDN - or if you know someone else (preferably a member of the Audacity Team or of this forum, someone trustworthy) who wants it - I will gladly provide the access.
Otherwise, we can upload or keep the page up to date - if there’s no interest. At least it would serve users such as @Hammerant
Thank you!
Hi Sam (@dAppCDN]). Yes I’m still me, and yes I remember you well. Good to hear from you, I hope life is treating you well.
I’m no longer part of the Audacity team - I stepped down when muse group acquired Audacity, so I can’t comment on their behalf.
My personal view is that it is definitely worth having an online archive of old versions of Audacity, so I’m happy to see that this archive exists. If you want even older versions for a full record, I can let you have most versions going back to version 0.8, and I think Peter (waxcylinder) has the few versions missing from my collection.
Tagging @LeoWattenberg as he has closer contact with the muse group devs than I do.
Great to hear from you Steve @steve , and I am glad that you still remember me!
Of course, I apologize if I was misunderstood. I am not trying to suggest anything; I landed here because people started to complain left and right and my team was trying to fix whatever we can. I only mean this if MuseGroup is interested - I’m not trying to pressure them.
About the archive - I personally want it because I get emotional when I think about it, especially regarding Mr. Gale Andrews and Vaughan Johnson. Without being disrespectful towards the entire Audacity Team, you (Steve Daulton), Mr. James Crook, Prof. Roger Dannenberg, Buanzo, Leland and Peter Sampson, and everyone I interacted with who I forgot to mention (I apologize in advance) - I think this archive should live as long as possible as it is a tiny piece of the history of such great software.
So please tell me how I can get the files from you, and if Peter agrees as well. You can send me a PM or you can send me a transfer link, or if you have any other idea.
Once again, great to hear back from you!
I’ve sent you a PM.
