Changing 16 bit to 24 bit

I want to change a 16 bit mono track to 24 bit to share with dropbox. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :metal:

When you export, the Window where you enter the file name and type of file also has options for bit depth, etc., depending on file type.

But why??? You don’t automatically get higher resolution or better sound by converting to a higher resolution format. You just make the file bigger.

So the bit rate matches the other files of the recording. Thank you for the info! I’m new to audacity. How do I export the file?

By default, Audacity works in 32-bit float format. It is very highly recommended that you retain this default.

To export as 24-bit wav, select “File menu > Export > Export as WAV”, and then set “Encoding” to “Signed 24-bit PCM”.

Thank you!
