I’m using a macro to batch convert nearly 800 sound files to WAV format (44,100 Hz, 16 bits), but it seems I’m getting AIFF files instead of WAV files.
I’ve noticed that for Mac users, AIFF seems to be the default setting. How can I change the default settings for the ‘export WAV’ macro?
I’m using: macbookpro m1, sequoia 15.1.1, audacity 3.7.0
it appears to be in WAV format, but it seems that it actually isn’t, as I cannot open it in Chrome
If you have a Mac, you have the app “Music” on it. It is easy to use Music for converting sound files to other formats - also to WAV.
In Music, go to Settings / Files / Import settings , and there select “Import with: WAV encoder”.
Then use the folder “Automatically add to Music” to import your files. They should be converted “on the fly”.
You can also use the menu command “File → Convert → Make xxx version” (where xxx corresponds to the import settings you have selected - see above.
What I do not understand is that you cannot export WAV directly from Audacity. This has been possible for ages, also on Macs.
Thank you for your help! I got WAV files, but they cannot be opened on another Windows PC. This issue only occurs when using macros; there is no problem when exporting individual audio files separately.
