Can't start to play

Hi,

I’m using Audacity 4 alpha 2. And I found a problem. This is for feedback and I don’t hurry the fix because there is a workaround.

Sometimes playback doesn’t start when I push play button. it does start after once I quit Audacity and relaunch it.

My environment is

  • MacBook Pro
  • macOS Tahoe 26.2
  • Apple M2 tip
  • 24 GiB memory

My project contains three track from three audio files whose duration is about one hour. I use Audacity to edit podcast episodes.

Using an alpha (not even beta) version for tasks where you need a real result is not recommended. And Audacity 4 is in a very early stage of development. As I can see from other contributions in this forum, there are even not all functions implemented which should be.

Your best choice is to use a final version of Audacity (I am using 3.6.4, but 3.7.7 is available).

For reports on alpha / beta version, you’d probably need to go to their Github or whatever site and report them there. If someone knows the correct address, please let it know to KitaitiMakoto.

I know I shouldn’t use alpha version for real result. I filed this because this might help if developers don’t recognize this issue.

Of course, I will file a issue on GitHub if it is more proper.
