Can't save as MP3

I’ve downloaded the current version of Audacity which is supposed to have the Save as MP3 Lameware built in but it isn’t happening for me! I have downloaded the LAME encoder but when I export as and select MP3 a pop up window suggests

Audacity needs the file libmp3lame.dylib to create MP3

Then this line in a search window:

/usr/local/lib/audacity/libmp3lame.dylib next to a Browse button.

I don’t know what I’m looking for! Or how to install it so it works.

A further button to download LAME.

Any ideas how to integrate LAME properly into Audacity? At the moment I’m having to convert WAV to MP3 via another service, which is taking ages!

I’ve downloaded the current version of Audacity

That would be Audacity 2.3.2 which you can get from here.

If you have any other version from anywhere else, you may have an older version without the automatic MP3 creation.

Audacity (upper left) > About Audacity.

Solved: the old version of Audacity was still being used even though I’d downloaded the new one. Tip: close down / delete the old version!

Thanks

I have the latest version 2.3.2 and I deleted the older version 2.3.0. I’m running Mojave on a Mac. Audacity gives me the option to export to MP3, and days or will overwrite the existing file, but when it gets saved and I go back to the file it still the old larger file.
