Can't playback, edit or record anything!!!!

I have used Audacity in the past. The last version was 1.3 beta and 1.3. I am used to using Audacity to record with “mic in”, wave from a file I am playing back in the computer as well as line in. I have edited commercials that aired and won accolades. I have edited shows that have aired. all on a 50,000 watt FM station covering Baltimore, D.C. and an internet presence. I have even dragged and dropped a file into the program successfully…All I get now is “ERROR WHILE OPENING SOUND DEVICE. PLEASE CHECK THE INPUT DEVICE SETTINGS AND THE PROJECT SAMPLE RATE.”
What gives? What am I doing wrong? What settings can I change to correct? HELP!! HELP!! HELP!! HELP!! HELP!!

Topic moved to Windows forum.

The device toolbar is near the top of the main Audacity screen. Click on THIS LINK to see what it looks like.
It’s the thing for selecting the recording and playback devices and the number of recording channels.

WEAA-FM Morgan State U, Baltimore.
Everybody always says “Washington Area” when they mean Baltimore.

As above, this all depends on what you’re trying to record from.

Whatever it is can be found in Audacity Preferences.

Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording.
It’s also in this selection where you might need to change between Mono and Stereo. Audacity won’t cross automatically and the wrong one won’t work.

This selection is also reflected in the toolbars above the Audacity main window. It’s the pulldown next to the microphone.

If you have a USB microphone, please know that Audacity will not automatically find it if you plug it in while Audacity is running. Restart Audacity.

In spite of California, my favorite public park is still Ft. McHenry.
