Hi
I’m a complete beginner at this, Audacity says can’t locate FFmpeg and to download it, I’ve followed the advice in this respect but it still doesn’t work.
Would appreciate any guidance.

ANY files? Have you tried opening a known-good MP3 or WAV? Those don’t require FFmpeg or anything “extra”.
If you’re having trouble with a particular file, please tell us what the format is. (And, we may ask you to check the file with [u]MediaInfo[/u] to get the format details.)
If you need FFmpeg it’s (usually) not as difficult as it seems… Download and then RUN ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe to install it, and you should be ready to go!
