Hi,
I have tried all the way but still I am unable to import the .wav file. Even though I HAVE installed FFmpeg, it still shows “error importing” audacity didn’t recognize the type of the file.
Well, you don’t need FFmpeg to import a “regular” WAV file.
What do you know about this file? Or, if you don’t know anything else, where did it come from?
Or, try opening it with MediaInfo to find out the format details.
well it’s audio file with .wav extension but audacity is not importing it.
Try uploading the file to this on-line analyser to see more information about the file: MediaInfoOnline - MediaInfo in your browser

Yes, you already said that. Most WAV files are uncompressed PCM and the ability to open those standard WAV files is built into Windows.
However, WAV is a “container” format and it can contain compressed audio in various formats. It would be helpful to know what we are dealing with.
You didn’t answer the question. Where did the file come from? Can you play it in Windows Media Player? Maybe it’s simply corrupted. Maybe it’s some other format and someone renamed it to WAV… Maybe it’s not even an audio file…
