Can't get both ACX pass and export sound

I want to thank all of you for trying to help me out.

I can’t do it anymore. Ive called my old engineer and we are going to work something out.

I really wanted to do this myself ,but the way things are going I’ll be finding new issues to be corrected and troubleshot and tweaked 8 months from now.

I just figured that what I wanted to do was so basic that there would be a simple straight forward answer. If I was entertained by troubleshooting and figuring things out, this would all be great, but I’m not. And I know there are people that enjoy that sort of thing and get great satisfaction from it, and that’s cool. I’m just not one of them.

Again, thank you all, I appreciate it.

A stand-alone recording-device could be a solution, (rather than recording via computer) …

“Zoom” brand are reasonable: they start at ~$100.

How did you used to do it? Remembering this is a forum, users helping each other, not a Help Desk.

Describe how you did your last successful performance.

And yes, see: Trebor, above. I was able to produce a passable voice test with my iPhone in the garage (I wanted to see if I could do it).

However, sooner or later, you’re going to have to drag the voice files into Audacity for editing and other production. If your machine isn’t clean and well-behaved, you’ll just start the struggle all over.

"How did you used to do it? "

How did I do what?

“Remembering this is a forum, users helping each other, not a Help Desk.”

I get that and I appeciate it. im just not good at it. It was not my intention to offend anyone on the forum. If anything it was meant as self deprication.

“Describe how you did your last successful performance.”

What performance? The sample I got a pass on in ACX? It did upload to ACX but it did not pass the ACX check in audacity. How I got that far, I have no idea.

“And yes, see: Trebor, above. I was able to produce a passable voice test with my iPhone in the garage (I wanted to see if I could do it).”

Thats great. Wish I could figure it out.

“However, sooner or later, you’re going to have to drag the voice files into Audacity for editing and other production. If your machine isn’t clean and well-behaved, you’ll just start the struggle all over”

Well I have to do the best I can.

Thank you for all your work and time.

Thanks…Ill check it out!

Hmmm I dont see how I could edit with that. But thanks for the suggestion.

Remember that? That suggests you had a relationship with an engineer and production outside of the Audacity ecosystem. I’m not trying to beat you up or anything, but I would give a lot of chocolate to know more about that if you’re willing to share.

The recorder just records: Editing would be done on the computer.
The completed recording is transferred from the recorder to the computer, either by taking the memory card out, or connecting it with a cable.

The Pros:
No “audio enhancements” are applied, ("enhancements"which can cause ACX rejection).
It does not make noise, unlike a computer (fan).
It’s more reliable than recording to a computer, as it’s dedicated to one task.
It’s battery powered, so could use it in a closet, or in a car.

The Cons:
Extra >$100.
Transferring the recording from the device to the computer.

Nobody can read directly into audiobook format. That’s why I wrote that mastering thing. What you can do is record in a quiet room with no echos. That goes a long way to producing a clean, polished production.

There’s just nothing like a forum posting from someone with a bad recording in the “Help Me Clean Up” class. Many of those just fail. No, we can’t take out the fire engine in the background.

Also, I’m sure you can read multiple chapters without making a mistake, right (ahem)?
