Can't export audio file, and overdub has a weird delay

I recently made a recording on Audacity, and I tried to overdub it, but when I did that I noticed that as the marker passes over the soundwave thing the audio only comes in later, so even though I recorded the second track in the right time it’s completely offset from the original track which is very annoying. I tried finding a solution online, couldn’t so I gave up and decided to use a different software and export my audio as an mp3 to use there

Lo and behold, my SECOND ISSUE, I can’t export the audio, I hit export audio, but when I try to export it does nothing. No error, no file, no nothing.

So if anybody can help me solve either of these issues that would be nice, atp I’d prefer the second one cause I have some other audios saved as a project but not as an audio file that I wanna get out of there, but I can’t export a thing.

I don’t know why you can’t export but go to Edit → Preferences → Modules and make sure everything is enabled. mod-mp3 enables/disables MP3 exporting.

There is ALWAYS SOME delay (latency) because of the buffers which are required with a multitasking operating system to keep the audio moving smoothy in-and out without interruption.

Edit → Preferences → Audio Settings there are two Latency settings.

Buffer Length allows you to adjust the buffer size (and related latency) but I think the operating system adds it’s own buffer.

Latency Compensation helps to put everything back in-sync automatically.

Here is some information about setting latency compensation.
