Can't erase clip insert line

In the last version of Audacity, if I inserted or pasted a clip, OR if I highlighted and deleted a second or 2, or ADDED a second or 2 to a track, and then I clicked on the insert line, it would disappear and create a seamless track.

Now if I do that, the point or insertion or the point of edit, is a RED LINE, and if I click on it, it deletes / undoes what I just did.

I have not idea what this is called and I can’t figure out how to change this setting in the preferences.

Can anyone help?

I was happy before this update  It is now taking me 2 extra hours per recording since this new update, fixing unwated crap in my file :sob:

In Tracks Behaviors Prerferences, uncheck “Enable cut lines”. That will take care of the case when you delete or cut a segment and a red line appears.
There has been a recent change of the behaviour when clicking on the line between clips. It used to join the clips, now it just puts the editing cursor there. You have drag a selection across the line between clips, then do Edit > Audio Clips > Join, or Command+J, or right-click in the selection area and choose Join from the context menu.
