Can't configure usb mic input on ASUs Vivobook

I am using windows 11 when I plug in an audio device eg cassette to the usb port and select mic array settings as audio input or a usb connection from audio system
Audacity won’t record …
is the ASUS Vivobook not compatible?

Of course, you need to select the USB device as your Recording Device if that’s what you want to record from. (Don’t select anything that says “loopback”.)

Check your Permissions/Privacy Settings.

…While you’re at it, make sure Windows “enhancements” are turned OFF. That doesn’t usually kill the audio completely but they can cause all kinds of strange problems.

If it still isin’t working, try Listen To This Device to make sure Windows is getting a signal. That should work without Audacity (or any other application). Audacity gets the audio from Windows so Windows has to work first.
