Windows 11, Audacity 3.3.3
This is bizarre !
I have used Audacity on Windows 7 for many years - no issues at all.
Just now I installed Audacity on a Windows 11 PC . . . I can record my voice with no problems at all but when I play my instrument (a Concertina) it either doesn’t record at all or there is a very weak and thready recording.
If I speak and play at the same time, my voice is clear but the instrument recording is the same weak and thready sound.
I’ve been through all the settings I can find, changed the recording device from Realtek to Windows and back again - to no avail.
Any clues as to what is going on and how to fix it would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Martin
Make sure Windows “Enhancements” are turned off.
…Sometimes Windows tries to improve communications by trying to block everything except for your voice, or it applies automatic volume control or noise-gating, etc. And sometimes your computer manufacturer or soundcard manufacturer has similar utilities.)
Thank you. Any idea how to set about unblocking this “feature” ?
