I’ve recorded an audio file with Audacity 2.03 using a Tascam US-144 MKII USB interface on Windows XP sp3 with most current drivers/updates for all. It records it. I can play it back through the Windows headphone plugin and sounds fine, but I cannot play it back through the USB connection to the interface to hear it in the headphones connected to the interface. I’ve set the control panel sound/audio to Tascam US-144 MKII, but still no sound on playback. Did I get a setting wrong? I’m trying to do voice-overs and need to hear it through the interface.
Do you have MON MIX turned up?

With the headphones plugged into the Tascam interface you should be able to monitor the mic input regardless of whether Audacity is running. Check in the Tascam manual for how to do that (http://tascam.com/product/us-144mkii/downloads/)
To listen to what you have recorded in Audacity through the Tascam, set the playback output in the Device Toolbar to use the Tascam.
