CANNOT BURN CD FROM AUDACITY WAV FILES [SOLVED]

Windows XP, Professional Version, Service Pack 3 and Audacity 2.1.2.
I export music files from Audacity in WAV (Microsoft) 32 bit float PCM file format.
I recently purchased new burning software that supports Windows PCM {* .wav;* wave} file formats.
The problem is that it does not recognize the WAV file format exported from Audacity and consequently the cd is not burned.
I upgraded Windows Media Player to Windows Media Player 11 and it also will not open WAV files exported from Audacity to burn a cd.
I never had any trouble in the past burning cds when using older versions of Audacity and older versions of Windows Media Player.
I appreciate that Audacity’s main responsibilities end when the music file is successfully exported.
However, any suggestions you may have on what is needed now to successfully burn a cd from Audacity’s WAV files would be much appreciated.

Audio CDs are 16-bit, 44.1kHz, Stereo. Try WAV files in that format.

I upgraded Windows Media Player to Windows Media Player 11 and it also will not open WAV files exported from Audacity to burn a cd.

Do you have any software that can play them? Can you re-open the WAV files in Audacity and play them?

I export music files from Audacity in WAV (Microsoft) 32 bit float PCM file format.

I believe you’re working too hard. Audacity’s default WAV export (not the special one) is 44100, 16-bit Stereo (or Mono). The Stereo version is the default format for a redbook Audio CD. Most Audio CD Authoring programs “know” what mono is and automatically convert.

Did you turn off dither based on the idea that the CD was going to be 32-floating and you don’t need it? It’s not. Audio always goes on a CD 16-bit. So turn dither back on and use the default WAV (Microsoft).

I bet what you’re doing works just fine if you burn a Data CD. That’s just a flat, shiny, plastic hard drive. You can put Photoshop files on there if you want.

Did I hit it?

Note if you do make a Data CD, this thing isn’t going to play anywhere but a computer and one that knows what 32-floating is.

I followed your advice and everything now works fine.
I now export the music wav file for cd burning in 16-bit with Dither turned on as shaped.
