Cannot activate new VST plugins

Hi,
I’m running Audacity 2.12 under Windows 10 and just installed the Demo of the Acon Restoration Suite and copied the dll files to the plugins directory in the Audacity program folder.
Under effects - add/remove plugins they show up as new, but when I activate them this has no effect.

I tried the same with another VST plugin (Absynth 5 FX.dll) just to make sure that it’s not a problem with the Acon plugins - no success at all.

(The Wiki regarding plugins is a bit outdated by the way, because in the recent version of Audacity there is no option to mark “Rescan VST effects next time Audacity is started”.)

The instructions are at Add / Remove Effects, Generators and Analyzers in the Manual. You have to select the effects you want to install then click “Enable” then “OK”.

64-bit VST plugins, VST instruments (like synths) and VST3 plugins are not supported, as described at Why do some VST plug-ins not work or display incorrectly?.

The Audacity Wiki is separate from the Manual. Which Wiki page still refers to “Rescan VST effects next time Audacity is started”? All I can find is http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/GVerb#Installation_.28VST.29 which is very clear that “Rescan” is not used in current Audacity.

I did a google search which led me to this page:
http://ttmanual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins?setlang=en#How_do_I_install_VST_plug-ins.3F

Thanks for the heads up, installed the 32-bit plugins now.

Thanks, but that is an old experimental “translatable” copy of the Manual. It relates to 2.0.4-alpha as you can see at http://ttmanual.audacityteam.org/man/Main_Page.

If you used the EXE installer of Audacity you already have an installed copy of the correct Manual at Help > Manual inside Audacity.
