Can you restore or add the old Audacity User Interface to Audacity 4?

I’ve been a dedicated user of Audacity for more than 20 years. I just installed version 4 and now can’t find anything that I used before. I’m a VO talent and use Audacity regularly for submitting auditions. After an hour of frustration with 4.0, I returned to 3.7.9 to quickly finish-up an audition. I don’t want to lose 20 years experience simply because a new programmer thinks the old UI is clunky or out of date; the new user interface will require me to spend a lot of time learning where the tools I regularly use are hidden. Not to mention I also must download additional features that I already have in 3.7.9 in order to make 4.0 work the way I need it to. Can’t you folks place 4.0 behind the old tried and true interface for us old duffers?

You can make some things more like Audacity 3 used to be in preferences > appearance, but not exactly like they were. The nice thing about older Audacity versions is that there really is no need to go with a different version if the version you have has all the features you need. I’d recommend just sticking to 3.7.9 indefinitely in your case

Thanks for the note! I’ve always updated to the latest version of software since they usually have improvements. But I’ll stay with 3.7.9. But all of your future improvements with Audacity will be in 4.0, so it still would be nice if you folks could make a 4.0 UI that duplicates or closely resembles the old UI.
