C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Audacity

What is the purpose of the following file:

C:Users[UserName]AppDataRoamingAudacityplugins.cfg

The following is written:

[VST]
[VST/0]
PluginPath=C:\Program Files\Audacity2.0.5\Plug-Ins\BLOCKFISH.dll
[VST/0/private]
Name=
Vendor=digitalfishphones
Inputs=2
Outputs=2
[VST/1]
PluginPath=C:\Program Files\Audacity2.0.5\Plug-Ins\FLOORFISH.dll
[VST/1/private]
Name=
Vendor=digitalfishphones
Inputs=2
Outputs=2
[VST/2]
PluginPath=C:\Program Files\Audacity2.0.5\Plug-Ins\SPITFISH.dll
[VST/2/private]

Vendor=digitalfishphones

Outputs=2

However, after the uninstallation of the previous versions of Audacity(1.2, 1.3 Beta )Unicode), 2.0.4), my new 2.0.5 installation doesn’t show the LADSPA plugins(recommended for Windows by the Audacity website) I moved to the C:Program FilesAudacity2.0.5pluginsLADSPA folder. Nor does it recognize the VST DLLs I placed on the C:Program FilesAudacity2.0.5VST folder, the wiki recomends.

It manages VST plug-ins only.

This is expected. The LADSPA plug-ins should be in the root of the Plug-Ins folder, as described in the Manual: Audacity Manual .

Personally I think Audacity should look in a LADSPA folder in its installation folder or in a LADPSA folder in its Plug-Ins folder, but that is how it is at the moment.

Audacity will see 32-bit VST effects there.

Did you go to the Effects Preferences, put a tick (checkmark) in the box “Rescan VST effects next time Audacity is started”, click OK and restart Audacity?

Gale

What happens if it wasn’t checked with a mark?

I have a vcpl virtual instrument. Will it detect it?

“vcpl”? Vigo County Public Library?

Audacity does not support VSTi (VST instruments).

It reads actually:
Vernacular Complot Progressing Lousily.

It has read all the VST DLLs after checking the mark you suggested on preferences.
