Bug Audacity 3.7.x (appimage and deb) Debian-Trixie Xfce

Hello.

I’m posting here because I’ve found a bug. Seems to be related to volume.

  • HP 600 G2, official iso Bookworm+Xfce, text installed, migrated to trixie, keyboard as detected during installation ‘French (obsolete, variant)’ : bug,
  • Lenovo T420s, DF-Trixie Xfce (link above), Calamares, keyboard detected ‘French’ : bug,
  • Lenovo T420s (same device, dual boot Debian-Debian), nakedeb Trixie (link above), no Xfce-DE (some parts), keyboard detected ‘French - (obsolete, variant)’ : no bug,
  • Toshiba L450, official Bookworm+Xfce iso., text installed, keyboard detected ‘French (obsolete, variant)’ : no bug.

Audacity :

  • the bug first occurred right after Bookworm to Trixie upgrade, within Audacity-3.7.3.AppImage, confirmed with 3.7.5.AppImage
  • then I tried Trixie’s repository version (3.7.3), same result,
  • I added a local backport to test Debian’s 3.7.3 within Bookworm-Xfce, no bug.

Bug :

  • just after I do a ‘Effects > Volume & Compression’ there’s no more reading-stop with space-bar nor Ctrl + … action,
  • clickable player’s buttons (top-left) work but some are strangely grayed (I didn’t understand how they change between grayed or not).
  • same with fade in/out or EQ and filter…

How can I help more (logs) ?

Hello.

After a few tests this bug isn’t related to Xfce D.E. Occurs as well while Audacity is launched by GTK_MODULES= audacity command line.

Systems are full updated with apt (CLI).

Where could I prospect to solve, please ?

Hello.

Had a few more tests, inboard diagnostic tools don’t show bug while keyboard commands are frozen (reading-stop with space bar, Ctrl + … for select all, copy, cut, paste).

I add here bugreport parts from: Audacity_dbgrpt-16195-20251022T160247.zip
