Black boxes and mic going crazy

Hello everyone

Yesterday I recorded a podcast episode (approximatively 1 hour) directly through Audacity (which I never did before, I use Discord and then put the audio file on Audacity). When I ended the recording I noticed “black boxes” above the main track and “holes” in the recording (my voice turns on and off).

PLEASE tell me I can recover the missing parts… I cannot find any solution on the internet :frowning: :frowning:

Thanks a lot in advance

Anyone ? :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

If you zoom in on the track below the audio track, you will see that those “black boxes” are actually “labels” (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/label_tracks.html)

Each of those labels indicate that some of the audio is missing (known as a “drop out”). The missing data cannot be recovered because it was never captured to disk. See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recording.html#dropouts

Some advice on avoiding dropouts can be found here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#skips

Thank you Steve
