I have a Windows 7 with installed memory(RAM) of 1 GB. which version of Audacity should I install? Thanx in advance.
1 GB RAM is the minimum requirement for Windows 7, so you should probably consider upgrading your RAM in the near future.

You have to buy the RAM then open the computer case and install it. You can usually buy RAM online and have it sent to you in the postal mail. A good online store will have a tool or program to figure out what type of RAM you need and include instructions with the RAM about installing it. Search Google to find a good store.
If you have a laptop there may be special instructions about installing RAM. Read the laptop Manual before doing anything else.
The Audacity-recommended RAM on Windows 7 is 4 GB. 1 GB will very likely not be enough to do editing on many or long tracks; 1 GB is just enough to run the operating system, e-mail and web browser (with no more than two or three tabs open). See Audacity ® | Download for Windows .

hey Steve, as per ur recommendation, i upgraded my RAM to 4 GB. could u plz divert me to a link where i can know the step by step process for audacity settings. i tried recording my voice but got a distorted sound. i did get an error msg something to the effect the cross something blah blah blah. again i m a newbie to Audacity but love it. thank u in advance Sir
