I just got this thing a few days ago and I’m having problems trying to get the sound FX to work.

I just have a simple XLR mic hooked to line 1 and L/R AUX cables from a keyboard going into the Stereo Aux Returns of line 5/6. I’m trying to get effects to work for the mic.

Having trouble getting anything to sound, it made me wonder if effects couldn’t work in real-time. Is that perhaps the case?

You should probably check in the XENYX manual, but I don’t think that the fx work through the USB connection. I think what you will need to do is to record “dry” (no effects) then add effects on after - Audacity includes a range of effects, and many more can be added as “plug-ins”. http://audacityteam.org/download/plugins
