Behringer QX1832USB console with Audacity

Has anyone used a QX1832USB (or similar) console to record into Audacity with multiple tracks at once?
Any advice or links would be appreciated.

So you are NOT going to be able to do this. I am not familiar with the QX1832USB, but I am familiar with other Behringer mixers. The Behringer XR18 mixer, for example, DOES support multiple channel output, BUT it requires ASIO for Windows. For Apple and (I believe) Linux computers, there is no problem. Audacity does not ship with ASIO support, so the XR18 wouldn’t work on Windows, without a custom build. That is, IF you had an XR18.

But you have a QX1832USB. Unfortunately, the QX1832USB hardware does NOT supply multiple channel output. From section 5.4 USB input/output in the “QX…USB” Behringer User Manual:

The XENYX mixer line has built-in USB connectivity, allowing stereo signals to be sent to and from the mixer and a computer. The audio sent from the mixer to a computer is identical to the MAIN MIX. Audio being set to the mixer from a computer can be routed to the main mix with the 2-TR/USB TO MAIN button.

…we recommend that PC users install the ASIO driver which can be downloaded from behringer.com

So ASIO or not, the QX1832USB does NOT supply multiple channel output.

Heh Jademan,
Have been away and jus saw this.
Thanks for clearing this up for me.
I am looking to be able to record 8 tracks at a time into audacity.
If you know of any small mixers or audio interfaces that do that, let me know.

So I have a Presonus AudioBox 44VSL which records 4 independent channels under Windows WASAPI simultaneously. They make a 1818VSL and a 1824c both of which I imagine would work for you. I’d get return privileges just in case.

The Behringer X18, mentioned above has 16 inputs, but as I said, you would need special software that can handle ASIO.

Just saw this.
Thanks for the info.
I am familiar with Presonus and will check it out.
But if your 4 channel unit works I would suppose an 8 channel unit would work too.

I believe most PreSonus interfaces come with a basic version of Studio One (their DAW software).

Some people multi-track record with Audacity but a lot of people seem to have trouble. Audacity can mix 8 (or more) tracks but it’s missing a lot of features compared to a full DAW which is designed from the ground-up for multitrack recording & mixing.
