Automatically add labels with multiple tracks

Hi all

I’ve browsed the forum but I can’t find an answer to this one, so apologies if this has been asked already.

I use Audacity a lot for language learning, by downloading audio files for various textbooks and language resources as I find myself needing to edit out a lot of ephemeral audio as I’m usually just interested in extracting dialogues and readings. I usually end up adding multiple tracks to Audacity, aligning the tracks end to end and then going through and editing each file. Quite often where there is a lot of unwanted material, I end up having to add a label to the end of each track then mix and render and then review each track. It’s time consuming as there can be anywhere in excess of fifty tracks. I was hoping that there might be some way to align the tracks end to end and somehow automatically add labels for each track. I guess what I’m looking for is to be able to mix and render to one long track but still having some type of marker (label or otherwise) to indicate where the beginning and/or end of the tracks were previously.

Thank you in advance.

Hi all,

I am facing exactly the same issue. Currently tackling 600+ tracks of words from a frequency list and dearly in need of a way to be able to merge them in a single track but keep the original names as labels. I just cannot believe it isn’t possible, maybe I’m not looking for the right keywords in the documentation?

Thank you for your help!
