I have this issue where I record audio for a podcast on mics into a computer running audacity, and then the video is shot on a different device and I cannot get the audio and video to line up even if they are the same length shot in the same time, somehow the audio always ends up either being ahead or falling behind the video. How do I fix this?
If this loss of synchronisation was due to the clocks in the computer and camera running at slightly different speeds, then changing the speed of the audio would solve the problem.
However if it’s due to Audacity occasionally randomly skipping, changing the speed won’t fix the sync.

What program are you using to align the audio and video?
DaVinci Resolve has the ability to do that really well. I suspect it is stretching the audio to match. Both the audio and video files have to have similar waveforms, or timecode generators on both.
Resolve has a very steep learning curve, so if you want to try synchronizing with it, plan to spend a lot of time learning the program first.
